Hi, my name is Gatty. I am a Christian, a wife to this great guy and have been blessed with three children. I originally come from Serowe, Botswana. We are a neurodivergent family. Two of my children have been diagnosed with Autism. My son, now 18years old, is non speaking and requires a little bit more support with daily life activities. He was diagnosed when he was 3.5years old, and my daughter, who is 15years old, was officially diagnosed when she was 12. In this blog I plan to share my journey of learning. To be honest, since the birth of son, life has been full of learning moments, some of which I took advantage of, while others I barely acknowledged. Both my ASD children are home educated, it is truly a remarkable journey, filled with nooks and cranies waiting to be explored. Learning about the world alongside my children fills me with joy unspeakable.
Few things I love:
First of all, I love Jehovah Almighty, the God of the bible. Being a Christian is a much harder journey for me to travel, and yet it is the most fulfilling thing I have ever done. And for that I will forever be grateful to Jehovah my God, and to Jesus, my Messiah.
The invitation to having a relationship with Jehovah Almighty is open to all who will recieve it.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 (From the King James Bible).
Homeschooling, I don’t ascribe to any particular homeschooling method, if pressed between a rock and a hard place I will choose being an eclectic homeschooler. But seriously, my children are autistic, their needs change from day to day, sometimes moment to moment, being stuck to doing something only one way will not work, so we flex and roll with the punches so to speak. I know, I know, children with autism like routine. There are things where routine is invaluable, and there are things where routine/ sameness becomes a hindering block. So, I do the best I can to be flexible in my expectations as well as “teach” my children to be flexible themselves.
Soma RPM. This was a game changer for my family. With Soma RPM, my son now had the opprtunity to interact with the world around him. He is somewhat fluent with the letterboard, but there is lot more to learn, a lot, for both of us. If you want to learn more about Soma RPM visit the Halo website by clicking here.
Homesteading, well, I live on a 3 hectare property, I have a couple of goats and sheep, a handful of chickens and I play with dirt, hoping for something to grow from it. And thats the only reason I call myself a homesteader. Maybe I should say ‘we’, as I homestead with my husband and children.
